Bernyce A. “Bunny” Lee, 88 of Fargo, passed away following a brief illness on Saturday, June 8, 2013, surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Bunny was born in LaMoure, ND, on April 15, 1925, to Albert and Corrine (Johnson) Kale. She was united in marriage to James E. Slayton in 1944. They had three daughters, Judy, Jill and Bobbi. Bunny married George L. Hill in 1955 and they had three children, Dave, Deb and Ron. George died in 1976. Bunny married Richard (Dick) D. Lee in 1977. They were married for 35 years until his death in October 2012.

Bunny graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1943. She went on to attend Dakota Business College and worked at KXJB TV for a number of years. Bunny was a member of the Elkettes and Eagles Auxiliary for many years. She was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed ballroom dancing, bowling, ceramics, and roller skating. Bunny modeled and appeared in ads for many years for the Bridal Shop, Catherine’s, and Laurie’s of Fargo. Bunny was a loving wife, caring mother, and devoted friend to many. She had a long and fulfilling life due to her many interests, keeping active and working out with her friends at Sanford.

She is survived by her six children: Judy Slayton, Hopkins, MN, Jill (Tom) Lavelle, Fargo, ND, Bobbi (Mike) Birrenkott, Bismarck, ND, Dave (Lori) Hill, Fargo, ND, Deb (Jay Goerger) Hill, Fargo, ND, and Ron (Jean) Hill, Plymouth, MN, and two step-children Linda (Doug) Knutson, Fargo, ND, and Kristy (Kevin) Campbell, Moorhead, MN; a sister, Geraldine (Geri) Wooledge Farrell, Moorhead, MN; aunts, Helen Peterson, Fargo, ND, and Margaret Pritchard, Fargo, ND; 19 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bunny is also survived by her special canine companion Molly.

She was preceded in death by husbands George and Dick, her parents and nephew Tom Wooledge.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Red River Valley. The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Red River Valley for the loving care they provided Bunny in her final days.

    Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Bernyce. I have heard my mother, Donna Biersdorff Thompson, speak of George and Bunny Hill. George was her cousin. Sorry for you loss.

  2. Garden Grove CAAunt Bunny was my favorite aunt she used to come and get me so I could spend time with her when I was about 8 years old in Fargo. We used to eat crab apples and popcorn. Even though I haven’t seen her for many years I still love her and remember her. I know she went straight to heaven cause she was already an angel. Love you auntie.

    I worked at the mall at delendrecie’s and Herbergers in the cosmetic area. I met Bunny there and I enjoy her as customer and a friend. I go to Head to Toes hair saloon and I would see her there and she always remembered me and she was so nice to me. Bunny had a beautiful smile and she enjoy people. She was great to know.

    I am so glad I was able to visit with her when she stayed at Ron’s & Jean’s home over the holidays. She was a lovely lady who will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
