Betty Lou Uhlman

Betty Lou Uhlman, 88, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016 in her home in Fargo, ND.
She was born August 27, 1928 in Lakota, IA, daughter of Herbert and Rachel Kienitz. She graduated as an RN from Naeve Hospital School of Nursing in Albert Lea, MN and worked for the Community Hospital in Glendive, MT as a surgical nurse. Betty Lou met Kenneth Uhlman who worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad and they were married February 7, 1953. Their son, Henry Karl Uhlman, was born in 1953 and died in 1955. Their daughter Sue was born in 1955 and their son, Ken in 1957. They moved to Fargo in 1970 where she worked as a rehab nurse at Dakota Hospital and retired in 1988.
She was an active member of the Eastern Star, El Zagel Noblettes, The Quilters Guild of North Dakota and First Lutheran Church of Fargo participating in and enjoying many community service activities.
Betty Lou is survived by her daughter Sue Eppler and granddaughter Angela Eppler; her son Ken and his wife Audrey and their children, Austin Johnson; Laura Uhlman and her husband Rick and son Wyatt.

Visitation: Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 3-5 PM at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center in Fargo
Visitation and Funeral: Monday, November 21, 2016 8:30 AM with funeral at 9:30 AM at First Lutheran Church in Fargo
Burial: Monday, November 21, 2016 at 3 PM in the Veteran’s Cemetery in Mandan, ND

Sorry of your loss Sue and Ken .My mother and dad were long time friends with your parents. Your mom worked with mine at the NP hospital and your dad worked with my dad in the NP telegraph office. I have great memories of the two of them.

I worked with Betty on rehab!! Was a great resource to all who she worked with. The thing I noticed on all the pictures was her smile.. She was always there to help and smiled with you. Sue,I am so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I enjoyed Betty when I would take her X-ray or do her dexa scan @ IMA, we would have great talks. Hold on to the memories of your mom, she was a sweet lady.
Sue and Ken, and was sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. I worked with Betty Lou on the surgical on floor at Dakota Hospital and always enjoyed working with her. She was one of the nurses that you would want taking care of your family member. The next year is going to be a year of firsts so talk about her and share memories of years past. Betty Lou was the quentiscential material al girl.. I don’t think she ever missed a sit n sew unless she was out of town or had a date! We will surely miss our own Betty Boop. So sorry for your loss
I worked with your Mom on the surgical floor when I started at Dakota Hosp. in 1975. She was great to work with – I learned a lot from her. Enjoyed visiting with her at 3rd floor get together at Elaine & Ronda’s. Sorry I was unable to come to her service.
