Beverly Jacobson

beverly jacobson

Beverly-Ann (Mollerstrom) Jacobson was born on January 22, 1933 in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Willard and Ethel (Anderson) Mollerstrom.

Her family moved to Hillsboro when she was a teenager. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1951. She married her high school sweetheart (Buddy) in October of that same year.

They made their home on the family farm west of Hillsboro where they raised their three daughters. In addition to being a good wife and mother, Bev was right in there working hard, side by side with Buddy.

Bev was best known for her fun personality and her enjoyment of jokes (even if they were her own). She was also known as "Boom -Tap -Tap" when she was the drummer for the Roadrunners. They had a blast playing for wedding dances, house parties, and other various occasions. Even the jam sessions led to many great memories.  Bev and Bud enjoyed traveling south in their Winnebago in the winter and parking it at Twin Lakes in the summer. Another nickname was born for Bev as the "Bean Bag Queen" when they introduced the bean bag game to Hillsboro, Blanchard, and Pinehurst.

Bev's heart broke when Buddy passed away in 1995. In 2000, she moved into a house in Hillsboro. Her new past times included taking road trips, playing blackjack, and "occasionally" going to casinos.

Despite surviving several medical conditions, her big heart finally gave out on Sunday, April 1, 2012.

Bev is survived by her daughters, Patty (Greg) Hansen of Hillsboro; Jackie (Gary) Troitte of Reynolds, ND; and Kelly Jacobson of Hillsboro; her five grandchildren, Jadey (Angela) Hansen of Westminster, CO; Shane Gaffney of Tallahassee, FL; Cody Lee of West Fargo, ND; Gina (Jesse) Egge of Castle Rock, CO; and Stefannie (Bryan) Carter of Crawfordville, FL; and her three great-grandchildren, Chase and Bryce Carter; and Oliver Hansen. Also surviving are her six siblings, Wilma Rasmussen of Vacaville, CA; Alice (Jim) Hill of Ouray, CO; Bill Mollerstrom of Richmond, CA; Sharon (Vern) Hanson of King City, OR; Karen (Roy) Lingenfelter of Aumsville, OR; Jim (Sue) Mollerstrom of LaGrande, OR; her sister-in-law, Janet Reinhardt of Tucson, AZ; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bev was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd "Buddy" Jacobson; her parents; her brother, John; her sister, Jodi; and her brother-in-law, LeRoy "Jake" Jacobson.

  2. Fergus Falls MN
    Dear Jackie, Patti, and Kelly,

There are many wonderful memories of the Jacobsons. We were fortunate to have those wonderful “4th of July” picnics and fireworks many, many visits back and forth between Buddy’s and Ralph’s…and usually then Jacki or Kristi ended up staying overnite with each other.

Actually, Bud and Bev were at Bee and Ralph’s the nite that Joe and I got engaged! Bev sang at my church shower, and Bev and the “Roadrunners” played at our wedding dance!

    With Deepest Sympathy,

  3. Tama IowaPatti, Jackie, Kelly and families,

I was so sad to learn of Bev’s death. I knew your dad had been gone for awhile but now that your mom is gone too, well, it changes things. You are now the oldest generation and it’s scary knowing that we could be that old. I will be thinking of you in the next few days wishing I could be there to help support all of you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers instead.

    Sue
