C. LeRoy Erickson, 84, Hillsboro, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2008 in his home surrounded by his family under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. C. LeRoy Erickson was born on September 28, 1924 at Deaconess Hospital, Grand Forks, ND to Clifford H. and Cora Louise (Berg) Erickson. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in the Buxton area. After finishing school LeRoy joined his father farming in Stavanger Township near Buxton. He then entered the U.S. Army where he served as a Quartermaster in the U. S. Occupation Forces in Germany . After his discharge from the Armed Forces C. LeRoy Erickson married LuVerne Doeden at Wesley Methodist Church, Hillsboro, ND on December 22, 1946. They lived in rural Buxton, ND for a few years before moving to Hillsboro in 1952. He worked as an agent with Farmers Union for a time. LeRoy farmed from 1952 until 1995 when he retired. He was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member of Grue Lutheran Church, Buxton. He loved to talk about farming, collected model cars and model tractors, and was a big fan of the Minnesota Twins. He is survived by his Wife, LuVerne, at home; children, Allen (Patty) Winona, Mn, Janice (Milton) Leeds, Jefferson City, Mo.; grandchildren Allison Erickson, St. Paul, MN, Lindsay Erickson, Chicago, Il, David (Sarah) Leeds, Bonne Terre, Mo, Kyle (Jessica) Leeds, Buckner, Mo, Kristi Leeds, Jefferson City, Mo; great grandchildren, Jackson, Hayden, and Isabelle Leeds; brother, Donald Erickson, Hillsboro, ND He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Viola Knight. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Grue Lutheran Church, Buxton, ND. There will be a visitation Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro and one hour before the funeral in the church. Burial will be at Grue Lutheran Cemetery.
