Obituary

Carmen Freehauf, 85, Fargo, died Friday, May, 18, 2018 in Villa Maria, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Carmen Johnson was born June, 10, 1932 to Carl and Nora (Kringler) Johnson of Buffalo, ND. She graduated from Buffalo High School as valedictorian of her class, where she also played women’s basketball. She worked at a bank in Casselton until she married Gordon Freehauf on October 10, 1951. They resided on the family farm in Alice, ND and farmed until they retired and moved to Valley City, ND.

Carmen was active in community and church. They enjoyed spending time with friends, camping at the Lakes and playing cards. She also enjoyed sewing and reading and spending time with friends, family and grandchildren.

Carmen’s family would like to thank the wonderful people at Villa Maria for all their wonderful care and love they gave in caring for her.

Thank you to the people of Hospice of the Red River Valley for the comfort and caring they gave Carmen and her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Freehauf, son, Douglas Freehauf, brother, Ronald Johnson.

She is survived by her son, Terry (Jeannette) Freehauf and daughter Janice (Clayton) Smith, and six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May, 23, 2018 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center. The funeral will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, May, 24, with visitation one hour before the service at Holy Cross Catholic Church, West Fargo.
