Catherine (Cathy) Bartholomay passed away Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Eventide Nursing Home, Moorhead after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She passed away under the care of hospice, surrounded by her family.
Catherine Mjogdalen was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on October 18, 1941 to William and Elizabeth Evelyn (MacMillan) Mjogdalen. She graduated from Central High in 1959. Cathy attended the University of North Dakota for two years and then went on to Moorhead State University where she received a degree in Elementary Education in 1963. She later taught in Osseo, MN and the Fargo Public School system.
Cathy married Gordon Bartholomay June 19, 1965 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fargo, ND. Cathy and Gordy raised their family in Fargo, ND and Jamestown, ND. In 1973 Cathy started working at the James River Senior Citizen Center and retired in the position of Director of Stutsman County Senior Services in 1991.
Cathy was a wonderful mother to their four children Jeff, Vickie, Beth and Sue. She loved to spend time at their lake home on Turtle Lake, to play bingo and to play cards. Cathy always felt that the time at the lake helped keep her family close.
Cathy will be greatly missed, but not forgotten by her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Gordon and their children: Jeff (Missy) Bartholomay, Vickie (Tim) Kozuck, Beth (Todd) Ulschmid, Sue (Scott Giesinger) Bartholomay as well as their nine grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Roger Maris Cancer Center, Hospice of the Red River Valley or James River Senior Citizen Center.
