Obituary

Cheryl Bergstrom, 62, Fargo, ND died on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Essentia Health after a courageous battle with cancer.

Cheryl Lynn Bergstrom was born on June 7, 1954 to Orlean and Loraine (Hendrickson) Bergstrom in Grand Forks, ND. She was raised in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School in 1972. Following graduation, she worked at various jobs while attending Aakers Business College.

Cheryl made her career in the banking industry, working at a local bank in Grand Forks until moving to Colorado. She was employed as a loan officer at Fitzsimons Credit Union in Aurora for several years before returning to North Dakota to be near family. Cheryl worked at Noridian until her passing.

Playing cards and other games with her family were some of her favorite pastimes. Cheryl was also an avid reader, especially mystery novels. She cherished the time she spent camping and exploring the parks in Colorado with her son, Zach. She also enjoyed when they cooked together. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she treasured every moment with them and looked forward to their phone conversations.

Cheryl will be fondly remembered by her family for her love of organizing, detailed calendars, and her ability to remember very specific details about her loved ones’ family events.

She is survived by her son, Zachary (Theresa) Bergstrom; grandchildren, Abigail and Ethan; siblings, Gary (Janet) Bergstrom, Linda (John) Lund; brother-in-law, Garry Bjelde; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

I was very blessed to have known Cheryl. I also worked with her at Noridian. Cheryl always looked over others needs before her own. She was the voice of reason, the smile that warmed you in the morning, the sound advice and consoler, and the one who kept us together many times. I was so sad to hear of her illness, and very sorry to her family for your great loss. Her son was always the light of her conversations- she loved you and those grandbabies so much. Blessed to have been able to share some time with her.

I was so saddened to hear that Cheryl was sick. We hadn’t seen each other since the passing of Carol, but she was thought of often. Little things I would remember of her, such as when she would babysit my brothers and me. She was always the easy going one. We could get away with a lot. LOL Her sister, not so much. She was so funny to be around and I can not think of one time that she was not smiling. She will be missed so much. Please know that the family are in our thoughts and prayers. In the coming days, and months ahead .concentrate on her memories to get you through this difficult time. When I talked to her at Carol’s service her face lit up when she was telling me about her son, daughter in law and being a grandma..She is at peace now, and free of pain .
