Chester Skarloken, 89, of Fargo, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at his home. Chester Skarloken was born on March 31, 1919 near Hannaford, ND to Ottis and Fern (Grasby) Skarloken. He attended Dover Public School. Chester served in the US Army from 1944 to 1946, spending most of that time in Germany. He married Florence Discher on February 2, 1949 at Canaan Moravian Church, rural Davenport, ND. He worked with the Public Service Commission in Jamestown, ND for 5 years. They moved to Fargo, ND in 1951. Chester worked for North Dakota State University in the maintenance department for 25 years. After his retirement at NDSU, he began Chet?s Service and Repair and continued working until he was 87 years old in 2006. He was a life-long member of the VFW and belonged to the American Legion for 53 years. He was a very active member of his church throughout his life. He is survived by his wife, Florence; one son, LeRoy Skarloken (Tish) Davenport, ND; two daughters, Donna Lutz (Nathan) Lake Park, MN, Karen Martynow (Tom) Denver, CO; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Edith Dysart (Frank) Citrus Heights, CA; one brother, Bernard Skarloken (Gayle) Roseberg, OR; one half brother, Silas Skarloken, Jamestown, ND; and one half sister, Janice Sabinash, Jamestown, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents; a half sister, Leah Clemens; four brothers, Floyd, Wallace, LeRoy, Virgil; and one sister, Gladys Pederson. Visitation: 5:00 ? 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Shepherd of the Prairie Moravian Church, 6151 25th Street South, Fargo, ND, and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Prayer Service: 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the church. Funeral: 11:00 am on Friday, June 6, 2008 at Shepherd of the Prairie Moravian Church, Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred, ND.
