Christian J. Wanner, 89, 817 6th Avenue North, Fargo, died Tuesday, September 2, 2003, in his home under the care of Hospice.
Christian Wanner was born October 27, 1913, in Oxbow, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Jerome and Katherine (Matz) Wanner. He moved with his family to a farm near Crosby, ND, where he farmed. He married Helen Thompson on May 26, 1944, in Crosby. In 1963, they moved to Fargo. He worked for the North Dakota State Highway Department as an equipment operator. He retired from the department in 1978. The couple were foster parents for more than 10 years in Cass County.
He is survived by two sons, Daniel, Fargo, and David (Diane), Fargo; three daughters, Gail Fleming, Fargo, Gloria (Ronald) Mielke, Minneapolis, MN, and Geri Wright, Moorhead, MN; 11 grandchildren; and one sister, Rose Marie Wanner, Denver, CO.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1991; one grandson, Christian Wright; two brothers; and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Boulger Funeral Home Chapel, Fargo. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. in Boulger Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services on Thursday. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fargo.
