Christine Meier, 95, Fargo, ND died December 05, 2016 at Essentia Health, Fargo. Christine (Schatz) Meier was born May 23, 1921 and raised on a family farm near Zeeland, ND. She attended rural elementary school and graduated from Zeeland High School in 1940. She received a teaching certificate and taught in a nearby rural school during World War II. She married Frank A. Meier at St Andrew’s Catholic Church in Zeeland on June 6, 1944. They made their home on a farm near Venturia, ND where they raised their 6 children. Christine enjoyed her life on the farm raising her children, baking, cooking, sewing, helping on the farm with a large garden, and socializing with the neighbors. Christine was a longtime member of Christian Mothers, first at the former St John's parish in rural Zeeland and later at St. Andrew’s. She taught religious education at both parishes. She was dedicated to her faith, family and friends. Christine and Frank retired from farming in 1982 and moved to Zeeland. In 1994, they moved to an apartment in Fargo, ND. Frank passed away in 1996. Christine continued living on her own and enjoyed socializing and attending daily Mass at Sts. Anne & Joachim Catholic Church. In 2012, Christine suffered a stroke and became a patient at Bethany nursing home on University where she resided until her death. Christine is survived by her children and son in law: Dennis Bollinger, West Fargo, ND; Don & Cheryl Meier, Bismarck, ND; Anna & Ray Welder, Crystal Lake, IL; Robert & Irene Meier, Fargo, ND, and Steve & Sue Meier, Bismarck, ND, 16 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren, sisters: Rose Mitzel, Edgeley, ND; Mary Kramer, Minneapolis, MN; Betty Brandner, Aberdeen, SD; and brother, John Schatz, Bismarck, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Margaret (Seiler) Schatz, her husband, Frank, daughter, Mary Bollinger, son, Rodney, granddaughter, Janelle Meier and siblings, Sister Mary Rose, Julia Mathern, Margaret Schatz and Eugene Schatz. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 9, 2016 at Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church, 5202 25th St. S., Fargo ND with visitation starting at 9:30 A.M.

  5. Meier family. Sorry to hear of your mothers death. I met Christine a few years ago with Don&Cheryl .She was such a pleasant lady to be around. Now she is at peace. God give you strength at this time
