Clayton Anthony Cullen, 83, of Fargo, ND, in accordance with his wishes, he passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family while praying his nightly rosary on February 6, 2013.  He was under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. 

He was born on August 26, 1929 to Thomas A. Cullen and Alvina Rose (Lucier) in Fargo, ND.  Clayton grew up in Fargo and attended St. Mary’s School.  On August 18, 1951 he married Beverly Anderson and they made their home in Fargo for most of their lives.  Clayton and Beverly found great comfort in their Christian faith.  He was a loving father who adored his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Clayton enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and any time spent with family.  He was the gold standard for husbands and fathers and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by four sons, Dan (Mary) Cullen of Evansville, MN and Ron (Marilyn) Cullen of Horace, ND, Roger (Deb) Cullen of Richville, MN; Bill (Laura) Cullen of Horace, ND; four daughters, Karen (Terry) Maul of West Fargo, ND, Shelia (Ricky) Van Raden of Moorhead, MN, Corinne Kooren of Fargo, ND, Jennifer (Jim) Chalupnik of Fargo, ND; his sisters, Arlene (Don) Lien, Jeannie (Merlin) Johnson, Sherry (Dick) Fradet; brother, Bob (Ethel) Cullen.  He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Snow of the Roger Maris Cancer Center and her staff, as well as the wonderful caregivers of Hospice of Red River Valley.

  4. Detroit Lakes I have so many fond memories of working with Clayton at Lutheran Health Systems. Everyone in the LHS family loved Clayton. I can only imagine how much his family loved him, and will miss him. My condolences to all of you.

It was great to have met Clayton two years ago that Christmas Eve at the Van Radens in Moorhead. You are blessed to have had such a wonderful father, Sheila.   9. Fargo We were just visitiing with Clayton a few weeks ago at the cancer center- He was a special person to my mom Barb Short. They had a bond when it came to where they are at in life. To his family, we are praying for you & he is in the hands of the lord now. God Bless
