Clayton Mathias Wambach, 85, Redmond, WA, formerly of Fargo, died January 4, 2003, at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland, Washington. Clayton was born on June 23, 1917, to Dorothea and Mathias Wambach in Moorhead, Minnesota. He was raised in Georgetown, Minnesota, and moved to Moorhead in 1939. He served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1945. He married Lois Julian of Fargo on August 1, 1944, in San Diego, California. They returned to live in Fargo in 1945. In Fargo, Clayton worked at the Veterans' Administration from 1946 to 1948. He then worked for the U.S. Post Office and Civil Service Commission in Fargo, until he retired from there in 1972. In 1987, he moved to Redmond, Washington. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Eagles and Elks clubs. Clayton is preceeded in death by his wife, Lois, four sisters and two brothers. He is survived by one daughter, Marlene, and son-in-law Roger Morrill of Woodinville, Washington; one brother, Linus Wambach of West Fargo, ND; and many nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7 PM in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, with a prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will also be held in the church one hour prior to services on Friday. The Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 1 PM in Church of the Holy Spirit, Fargo. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fargo. Arrangements by Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
