Dan Sornsin

dan sornsin
Dan was born January 30, 1961, in Fargo, ND, the sixth of eight children to Earl W. and Jean Jefferies Sornsin. Dan passed away August 12, 2018. Dan attended Nativity Grade School and graduated from Fargo Shanley High School in 1979. He attended North Dakota State University and worked at Swanston Equipment for many years. Dan, also known as “Dan-o”, was a fan of and owned many Harley Davidson motorcycles and made several trips to the annual motorcycle rally in Sturgis. He spent many years fixing up motorcycles, cars, and heavy equipment. Dan enjoyed NDSU sports, was a long time season ticket holder and a member of NDSU Team Makers. He made many trips to Frisco to watch the Bison win the national football championship. He was also a big fan of the Twins and Lynx and arranged group trips to Minneapolis on weekends when both teams were playing. If another team was playing that same weekend, he’d work his magic to fit that game into the weekend. Dan-o was a regular at the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks games and always caught the Sunday game with his friends. Dan was also a regular trivia player at Tailgators in south Fargo. Dan was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his siblings: Dr. James (Karol) Sornsin, Cullman, AL, Jeanette Sornsin, Fargo, Peg Sornsin Smith, Minnetonka, MN, Patt (Chuck Parker) Sornsin, Kailua, HI, Jeff (Nancy) Sornsin, Fargo, Chuck (Susie Balsdon) Sornsin, Fargo, Dr. Beth Sornsin, Goleta, CA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, his aunts Marlyn Jefferies Langerud and Kathy Sornsin Boucher, and numerous cousins. Dan also leaves behind many friends. Services will be Friday, September 21, at 10 am, at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo. The family requests you wear bright colors as we celebrate Dan’s life together: Hawaiian shirts, Bison, Twins, Red Hawks or Harley wear or Dan’s signature - t-shirts with pockets. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to a charity of your own choosing.
