Darlene "Ann" Edwards

Darlene ?Ann? (Swartz) Edwards, age 70, of Fargo, ND, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 8, 2007. Ann was born to Angelique and Antoine Thomas on May 7, 1937. William and Frances (Volek) Swartz of Fargo adopted her in 1938. Ann graduated from Shanley High in 1955. Ann married Darl Oien of Moorhead in 1956. They had 3 children, Jo Ann, Darl ?Buddy? Jr., and Mark. In 1959 Ann married George Warren ?Eddie? Edwards of Brooklyn, NY. They also had 3 children, Melissa, Hilary ?Lary?, and James. Ann?s adventures took her across the country from New York to New Orleans to the Midwest. Along the way she met many interesting people, many her friends to this day. In 1994, Ann took over raising 3 of her grandchildren, Tony, Aaron and Ami when daughter Melissa was tragically taken from us. Ann was always active in the communities she lived. She received the McKnight award for Human Service in 1999 for her work with Minneapolis Public Housing. She also volunteered with the Four Winds Community. Ann is preceded in death by her parents; husband Eddie; and daughter, Melissa. Ann is survived by 5 children, 20 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was well loved and will be missed more that she knows.
