David Lloyd Heller, 63, Fargo passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 14, 2018 in his home. Dave was born May 7, 1955 in Fargo, ND to Lloyd and Doreen (Gregor) Heller. He grew up in Leonard, ND on the Heller farm, sparking his lifelong love of agriculture and farming. During his school years he excelled in baseball, basketball, and track. He graduated from Leonard High School in 1973 and completed his education at North Dakota State University in 1977 with a degree in agronomy. While at NDSU he played on the Bison baseball team and was a member of the TKE fraternity. Farming with his father, Lloyd, in Leonard, ND was one of Dave’s greatest joys. He also worked across the region at Pro-Lawn, Fargo ND, Community Co-op, Perley MN, Triangle Ag Services, Ulen, MN; Con-Agra fertilizer plant in Moorhead, MN and most recently at Plains, Grains & Agronomy in Enderlin, ND. Dave was looking forward to his retirement in June, 2018 after one last spring planting season. He married Betty Idso in July 14, 1979, and they made their home in Fargo. To this union they had two sons, Jared and Zach. He married Anne (Mettler) Heid on September 7, 2010 at Grandin Presbyterian Church. They made their home in Fargo. Gathering together with family to laugh, eat, and reminisce was Dave’s favorite thing to do. “Papa” Dave’s best days were the days he spent with grandsons Jake and Logan. In recent years, two rescue cats, Sammy and Mitsi, also took up a special place in his heart. Hobbies Dave enjoyed over the years were league bowling, golfing with his sons, and following Bison football as well as other sports teams. He is survived by his wife, Anne, Fargo; sons, Jared (Katie) Heller, Fargo, ND, Zach (fiancé Katie) Heller, Fargo, ND; parents, Lloyd (Carol) Heller, West Fargo, ND, Doreen Gregor, Moorhead, MN; grandsons, Jake and Logan; step-sons, Matt (fiancé Dana) Heid, Mandan, ND, David Heid, Mandan, ND; two brothers, Dennis (Bev) Heller, Davenport, ND, Dale (DeDe) Heller, Fargo, ND; step-brother, Kent (Heidi) Sapp, Santa Rosa, CA; step-sister, Angela (Nasir) Balouch, Edina, MN and many dearly loved nieces and nephews. Prayer Service: 7:00 P.M. Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with visitation starting at 5:00 P.M. Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 18, 2018 at Hope Lutheran Church South Campus, Fargo with visitation starting at 10:00 A.M. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.

  4. My heart is broken hearing of this loss. David was such a big part of my youth and has always been fondly recalled in my memories. David was my cousin, and a hero of sort, when my brothers, Dennis and Dale were picking on me he took charge and watched out for me. I love this family and will never forget the joy they brought to my life. Deepest sympathy to ALL of the Hellers’. I wish I could be there for you Uncle Lloyd like you were for us when dad died. My heart WILL be with ALL of you! I love you ALL!

  6. I am very sorry to hear the news of Dave’s passing. I remember my dad, Ike, enjoyed visiting with Dave when he ran into him through the years. He always mentioned it when he had visited with him.
