Delphine Fornes, 90, Fargo, ND, died Thursday, March 23, at Elim Care and Rehab Center, Fargo. Delphine was born May 31, 1926 in Fingal, ND to Gustav and Rosina (Schlegel) Stangler. She grew up in the Fingal area before attending school at Valley City State Teacher’s College. She met and married Lawrence R. Fornes and they made their home in Buffalo, Valley City and Fargo, with their seven children. She loved life, her faith, playing basketball in school, her dogs, horseback riding, listening to the news and taking her daily car ride. She was active in Camp Fire Girls and the Boy Scouts and did home day care for many years. After Lawrence’s passing, she worked for the Fargo Public School district, retiring in 1991. Delphine loved to camp and traveled throughout the United States. She was dearly loved by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, oldest son, Larry Allen, youngest daughter, Candace Rae, grandchildren, Sunshine and Ryan, infant sister, Mary, infant brother, Clarence, sister, Dorothy Bofenkamp, sister, Albina Nordgaard, brother, Ernest Stangler, brother, Francis Stangler and sister, Irene Pollock. She is survived by her children; Angela (Bruce) Vail, Trempealeau, WI, Kevin (Carllene) Fornes, Alameda, CA, Camille (Tom) Marcotte, Boise, ID, Carmen (Mark) Rossiter, Tulsa, OK, Mark (Lynda) Fornes, St. Paul, MN, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Thursday, March 30, 2017 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fargo with visitation starting at 9:30 A.M. Burial: 1:30 P.M. Thursday at the Holy Trinity Cemetery (Old Cemetery) near Fingal, ND.

  1. We were so sorry to heat about Del. ‘don’t have your current address, Angie, so this will have to do. We won’t be there Thursday as that is when we are visiting Mark in Idaho. I will have a Mass said here for your mom. Let us know when you have a permanent address.
