October 29, 1929 - June 05, 2018


Donald Gervais, age 88, of West Fargo, ND, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and the wonderful staff at Villa Maria.

Donald Leo Gervais was born on October 29, 1929, the son of Alphonse and Albertine (Richard) Gervais in Moorhead, MN. He grew up in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1948. Don was united in marriage to Donna Sommers on June 30, 1951 in Moorhead.

Don proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War where he was stationed in Germany as medical aid. He was employed at Cass Clay Creamery in Fargo for over 48 years. Don was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church while living in Moorhead, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Teamsters Union. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed the days spent on the lake fishing.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Donna, of West Fargo; his children – Debra Boyer, Tom Gervais, Gale (Bill) Bryant, Linda Gervais, and John (Raqual) Gervais; his six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his two sisters, Arlene Vorgert and Doris Jacobs; and many other very dear relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Virginia Lynberg; and his brother, Wallace Gervais.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 10 AM Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo

GATHERING: one hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Saturday

BURIAL: St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Moorhead

    We are so sorry for your loss. Your family is in our prayers. Both Don and Donna did so much for my mom and dad,Tony and Martha Knoll during their years at the condo on 10th St. Not only were you great neighbors, but you were such good friends to them both.

    Donna and Family, Greg and I are saddened to hear about Donnie. I remember all the fun family gatherings we had and Donnie was always the life of the party. There were many, many good times.     What a great picture and what a great smile! I have heard so many great things about Don over the years and about what a wonderful father he was. I lost my father too, a few years ago, and I still think about him every day. I know you will have great memories of him and that he has made many lasting impressions.
