Don passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.Don was born on November 26, 1934, the son of Leonard and Cynthia (McPherson) Thorson in Hope, ND. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High in 1952. He then attended North Dakota State School of Science at Wahpeton before entering the Army. Don proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955. Upon his discharge, Don returned and completed his schooling at Wahpeton Science. Don was united in marriage to Lois McKay March 10, 1956 at Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo. He worked many years in the lumber business, retiring in 2001, when they moved to Hillsboro.Don is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Lois; his children, Kevin (Rev. Pam) Thorson of Elizabethtown KY; Katherine (David) Malone of Aubrey, TX; Kari (Dan) Kirkle of Pilot Point, TX; and Kristine (Matthew) Sweet of Farmington, MN; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Roberta Hoffies of Moorhead, MN; and Shirley (Karl Sr.) Williams of Eagan, MN; and his sister in law, Marliss Thorson of Fargo. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Thorson.
