Donna Ugland

April 28, 1933 - March 22, 2019

Donna (Smith) Ugland, 85, Fargo, ND died March 22, in her home peacefully surrounded by her family after a several month battle with myelodyplastic syndrome.

Donna Smith Ugland was born April 28, 1933 to Earl & Ila Smith in Conde, SD. She graduated from Brentford High School and attended Aberdeen Business School. On April 8th, 1953 Donna was united in marriage to George Ugland in SD.

Donna worked various jobs in the different cities as she and George followed their careers. Donna so enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s sporting/school events, family camping, the many family reunions on the home farm in Conde, playing bridge, golfing, Saturday coffee with her friends at Red River Coffee, tending to daycare children at a local day care, gardening and of course watching Bison football games with her friends at River Square Apartments along with the potluck dinners.

Donna will be greeted in heaven by her husband George, grand-daughter Charity Mae, Mother Ila and father Earl, sister Doris, brothers Gene, Bob, Richard, Gerry and Wayne.

Donna was very devoted to faith, family and friends. She will be greatly missed by many faithful friends including Mert Engelhardt and Marie Bellerud (AKA the “Three Musketeers”).

Donna is survived by her children Curt (Denise) Ugland of Bismarck, ND, Cindy (Mike) Hubbard of Green Valley, AZ, Judy (Gary) Kubalak of Fargo, ND, and Lisa (Mike) Davis of Santa Monica, CA. Six grand-children (Stephanie, Bjorn, Summer Lynn, Isaac, McKenna and Jack). Five great-grandchildren (Gabe, Corrina, Petra, Penny and Milo) & one brother Floyd Smith.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Roger Maris Cancer Center Survivorship in memory of Donna.

I just saw where my dear friend passed away. I am so sorry to see this.
We had such good time when we golfed together. Also working with your parents –
    such nice people.

I want to extend my sympathy to all of the Ugland family.

Thinking of you – we are still in Arizona.

Dear Ugland family,. It is so hard for me to believe Donna is gone from this world. She was always such a sweet, vivacious, gentle soul, with such a cute smile and laugh. Her rapid decline in health, proves the frailty of Life in this world.
    James 4:14
You don’t even know what your life tomorrow will be! You are like a puff of smoke, which appears for a moment and then disappears.
May her soul sleep, until we meet again.

We are so sorry for the loss of your mom, grandmother. It was a beautiful reminder to my family about the importance of relationship when we saw Donna so many times attending the events of her grandchildren. The blessing is in the relief of her tiredness; and as you have reminded her, reuniting with the loved ones that have gone before her. Our sincerest sympathy! God Bless you, Judy, Gary, Isaac, Summer and the entire Ugland family. Love , Cindy, Steve, Zach, Grace, Jeremy and Michael
