Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Donnette Ranae announce that on Thursday May 17, 2018, she passed away at Vibra Hospital in Fargo North Dakota, at the age of 62. After battling cerebellum ataxia for four years and spending the past two months in the hospital fighting a MRSA infection, she died peacefully surrounded by the family who loved her.

A native of Ray ND, Donnette attended Minot State University where she received her degree in social work and Psychology. She was so proud of this accomplishment and she worked so very hard to achieve this goal. After receiving her degree she worked for Unimed’s TLC program in Minot. She later moved to Fargo and worked for Cass County Social Services in the child protection department. This was her life’s work and she dedicated countless hours to serving the children and families she came in contact with. She worked here until she became disabled.

She is survived by her Mother Lillian Larson, Brother Donald (Tammy) Larson, Sister Lynette (Gary) Fifer, Brother Ronald Larson, daughter Michelle (Michael) Heitland, Son Brett (Casey) Torgerson, Step – daughter Heather (Joe) Anderson, Lacey (Corey) Finger, Alyssa Pretzer, many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Because of her rare disease Donnette felt compelled to aid in the treatment of Cerebellum ataxia and therefore donated her body to science for the benefit of future medical discoveries. Memorial donations in memory of Donnette can be made to National Ataxia Foundation 600 Hwy 169 S. STE 1725, Minneapolis, MN 55426

A celebration of Donnette’s life will be held in Ray ND, Saturday June 30, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Ray Lutheran Church 216 Score St.

Memorials preferred to the National Ataxia Foundation, 600 Hwy 169 South, Suite 1725, Minneapolis, MN 55426

My heart is broken over the loss of Donnette! She is probably one of the finest people I’ve ever had the privilege of working with! We tried so many times over the past few years to get together but just never accomplished that so now I have many regrets! I have been waiting for her to get a little better so that I could visit her in the hospital. Sometimes we need to pause our busy lives and take care of things like. My prayers go out to her family at this difficult time!

My heart goes out to you at the loss of your much loved wife, daughter, sister and mother. I was in her circle of life for a short time and know how hard she worked to balance college and family. She did it all with loving passion. May you all be comforted knowing her love and God’s strength will carry you passed this grief to joy each time you share a memory of Donnette. God bless the memory of Donnette.

I am sending my Sincere Sympathy to Donnette’s Mom , and your whole family.
She became my best friend when we both lived in Texas in 1974.
I visited North Dakota a couple of times after we moved. I cherish those times.
I truly had wanted to see her again , but I am sure she will save me a place in heaven . ❤️Brenda
