Doris “Dodie” Bau peacefully passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Elim Nursing Home, Fargo, ND. Dodie was the daughter of Eluth and Olga (Johnson) Hanson born on April 25, 1933 in DeLamere, ND. In 1935 the family moved to Fargo where she spent her life. Dodie married Donald Bau on September 13, 1958 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo, ND. In her early years she loved dancing and roller skating and after much practice became very good at combining the two. She worked at the Veterinary Science Department at NDAC (now NDSU) before she took on her role of Mother and homemaker. She was always there for her three children whether it be a school play, baseball games, campfire and Cub Scout activities or sledding down our homemade snow hills. For years Dodie participated in bowling leagues, and with her family she enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and playing scrabble. Dodie was a wonderful cook and baker. She always was sure to make your favorite meal when you visited. Later in life, Dodie became a grocery product demonstrator (AKA a demo lady). She started at Piggly Wiggly. For years she dressed up as a clown for “Circus Days.” She had a few costumes made for her and looked forward to it every year. This led to her working for Cass Clay and Bridgeman and when Sam’s Club opened she worked there until she retired. Her love for being around people made Sam’s Club the perfect fit for her. Dodie is survived by her daughter, Cathy (John) Bannerman; sons, David (Julie) Bau; and John Bau. Grandchildren; Franklyn (Rachael) Novotny, Anthony (Kate) Novotny, Jennifer (James) Wang, Kailey Bau, Brooklyn Bau and seven great grandchildren. Dodie is preceded in death by her husband, Donald, her parents and all her brothers and sisters. A Funeral Service will be held on August 23, 2018 at 10 AM with visitation beginning one hour prior at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo, ND.
