Doris Steinhaus

doris steinhaus

On September 1st our earthly guardian angel became our heavenly angel.   Daughter of Jess & Delores (Martin) Stabenow.  Raised on a farm near Spiritwood, ND, her love of the outdoors and animals stayed with her.

A graduate of UND Nursing School in '53 and Interstate Business College, accounting, in '91.  She worked at the State Hospital, Jamestown and the Jamestown Clinic before starting a family and later moving to the Kindred area.  While in Kindred, she's well known as the BEST cook in the history of the Stable Steakhouse and Dewey's.  After retirement, she enjoyed crafts, reading and watching her grandkids grow.

Above all, she loved her family -son, daughters, grandkids, great grandkids, brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, in-laws and out-laws - everyone really.  Survived by her children, Kathy Steinhaus, West Fargo; Gary (Valerie) Steinhaus, Leonard; Laurie Torgerson, Fargo; Lisa (Dan) Scanson, Grace City; Nadine (Billy) Phillips, Kindred.  Many wonderful grandchildren and even more wonderful great grandchildren.  Two brothers, Gary (Betty) Stabenow, Binford; Alan Stabenow, Fargo and one sister, Linda Moen, Fargo.  Preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Stabenow.

We easily laughed together, loved together and celebrated life together.  Now we'll mourn the loss of our angel together - until we see her again...
