Dorothy Grager

Dorothy Mae (Adams) Grager passed away peacefully at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND on September 18, 2019 at the age of 97.
Dorothy was born May 10, 1922 in Judson Township, ND the daughter of Amos and Anna (Olson) Adams. Dorothy graduated from Fargo Central High School with honors. Then going on to Dakota Business College becoming head accountant at Sears. Later Dorothy attended Jamestown College where she became part of the Cadet Corp helping to care for soldiers after the war. Her mother had a paralyzing stoke and she needed to help care for her at home.
Dorothy met her husband, Willard, on one of his many trips to Fargo for medical care. They were married on April 26, 1957 in Roshalt, SD.
Dorothy and her husband lived their years together in Kindred, ND and Dorothy remained in Kindred after his death. Seeing a need for early education for young children, Dorothy was instrumental in starting the kindergarten program in Kindred.
Dorothy enjoyed playing piano and organ. She and her husband loved working with and showing Morgan horses receiving many trophies from Horse Shows. She also loved flower gardening.
Dorothy is survived by three sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents and many family members and friends.

A little story about Dorothy…..When Kelly and I had our first baby, Jordan, we would come home quite often and find a package of diapers on our deck. Honestly, we didn’t know who was our “diaper deliverer” for a long time. Then one evening I came home a little early from the horse ranch and found Dorothy sneaking off our deck after having left another surprise. I didn’t say anything, and neither did she, but she did give me that little smile she had and I knew……. You’ll be missed Dorothy. Tina Rustad

Dorothy was a staple in our lives growing up. She was the epitome of a true horse woman. She was a kind and generous soul that will be missed.
Willard and Dorothy bought me my first horse my first saddle bridle excetra and they flew me to Minneapolis to meet them by myself at 7 years old and the stewardess brought me off the plane and I met them and we went 2 Willmar Minnesota and found Rocky diamond I will never ever forget those days I tried to reconnect with Dorothy she chose not to and that’s all right. I told her I loved her and she didn’t say anything and that’s all right too. So I love you Dorothy and keep the horses kicking!😇😇😇🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I miss you, Dorothy. You were a dear friend. See you down the line, but not yet.
