Dorothy Haskins
July 12, 1926 ~ November 9, 2016
Dorothy passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Villa Maria Nursing Home at the age of 90.
Dorothy Mae Zinck was born on July 12, 1926 in Cleveland, ND, the daughter of Fred and Olive Zinck. She grew up in Jamestown, ND and received her education. She worked in Washington DC as a Civil Servant prior to retuning back to North Dakota. She worked at the Smoke Shop Cafe in Fargo where she met her future husband, Russell. Dorothy was united in marriage to Russell Haskins on August 6, 1949. They made their home in the Fargo/West Fargo area for many years. Russell passed away in 1975. Dorothy worked in Dining Services for North Dakota State University for several years prior to her retirement. She also sold Avon for over 20 years.
Throughout her life, Dorothy loved playing bingo, dancing, bowling in her younger years, and spending time visiting with her many friends and loving family.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Carol (Don) Dobler of Tower City, ND; Robert (Kris) Haskins of Bismarck, ND; and Cheryl (Rod) Johnson of Fargo; her grandchildren – Timothy Dobler, Daniel Dobler, Samantha Dobler, Joshua Dobler, Donovan Dobler, Sunny Haskins, Cody Haskins, Ryan Almer, Travis Almer, Brandon Almer, and Jeremy Almer; and her 16 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings – Howard, Arlene, and Bill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell; and her siblings – Dick, Ralph and Jerry
VISITATION: one hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Saturday, November 12, 2016.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 12 ,2016 at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo.
BURIAL: Casselton City Cemetery in Casselton, ND

23 August 2021 my condolences to Dorothy’s family and friends. People come into and out of our lives for different reasons and circumstances. Thank you for sharing Dorothy with so many. Accept my apologies for such a late entry. I came across Dorothy’s name on some canceled checks from 1983 & 1984. The name was so familiar. She was my Avon lady. I believe she had been dropping in on my mom Judy at my childhood home at the corner of 3rd Ave N and 16th st, Fargo. (The house is no longer there, but the memories live on.) I’d pop over when Dorothy was coming over to my folks. She was very friendly and gracious. I’m not sure how the visits started, but my dad was Reuben Meyers and had worked at NDSU for 45 years, retiring in 1981. Ironically, it states that Dorothy worked in the dining hall at NDSU. My youngest daughter attended NDSU and is starting a new job, in the DINING HALL in the upcoming weeks.
