Dorothy L. McLaughlin, age 78, 79 - 28th Avenue NE, Fargo, ND, died peacefully at home under Hospice care on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 after succumbing to her third type of cancer over a 33 year period. Dorothy Eisenmann was born February 27, 1925 at Underwood, North Dakota. She grew up and attended schools in Bismarck, ND, graduating as valedictorian from St. Mary?s High School in 1943. She then worked in the Zuger & Zuger law firm in Bismarck for four years. On August 28, 1946, She married James R. McLaughlin, and they lived in Bismarck until 1953, moving to Fargo, ND where Ulteig Engineers employed Jim. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She spent countless hours at hockey, football, basketball, and soccer games, as a leader in Cub Scouts and Campfire Girl functions and at Jim?s side throughout his career and community life. In recent years she gave of her time and talent to volunteer at Holy Spirit Church and around the community in helping with the elderly. As recent as September of 2002 she received recognition for 30 years of service to Meals-on-Wheels and a big thank you for delivering 10,000+ meals. She also spent countless hours with the Red Cross during the Fargo floods and when needed. She was loved by all who encountered her and she will be missed. She is survived by her husband James; 5 sons, Tim (Jody) of Minot, ND; John (Cheri) of Grand Junction, CO; David of Anoka, MN; Jerry (Bridget) of Andover, MN; Robert of Fargo; and three daughters, Mary Henley of Eden Prairie, MN; Jane (Michael) Whitt of Rifle, CO; and Martha (Earl) O?Neal of Rifle, CO; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley Fraser in El Toro, CA. Prior to her death, Dorothy requested that all memorials be sent to the Fargo Senior Commission and Hospice of the Red River Valley. The funeral for Dorothy will be Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 1 p.m. in Church of the Holy Spirit. There will be a prayer service Friday, March 28, 2003 at 8 p.m. in Church of the Holy Spirit.
