Dorothy Ommen, 91, died peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday, December 10, 2003, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. Dorothy Marie Hagen was born at home in Norma, ND, to Joseph T. Hagen and Maude Etta (Lumley) Hagen on November 5, 1912. She graduated from Kenmare High School in 1931, attended Minot State Teachers College, and taught north of Norma for two years. Dorothy married Harry Ommen on September 15, 1935, in Bowbells, ND. In 1943, after making their home in Minot, ND, they opened Harry?s Tire Service which later became the Minot area distributor for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Dorothy?s decision making and money management skills were an integral part of the success of Harry?s Tire Service. In 2000, Harry and Dorothy moved to the Waterford Apartments in Fargo, ND. Dorothy and Harry spent the last 50 years on Lake Melissa, MN, during the summer and in Mesa, AZ, in the winter. Dorothy?s zest for life, her accepting heart, her selflessness and warm personality are qualities she extended to all her family and friends. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Penny (Mark) Goldsmith, Mahnomen, MN; grandchildren, Tom (Judy) Goldsmith, Warroad, MN, Kari (Kevin) Bucholz, West Fargo, ND, Sharon (Bret) Maughan, Fargo; daughter-in-law, Mary Ommen, Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, John Ommen, Fargo, Robyn Ommen, St. Paul, MN, Heather (Scott) Larson, Loveland, CO; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Hagen, Minneapolis, Doug Hagen, Lisbon, ND; and sisters, Lucille Schiff, Mohall, ND, Anita Borgman, Minot, Maxine Coughlin, Bismarck, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry in June 2000, son Jim in January 2000, her parents and brother Joe. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, with a rosary at 5 p.m. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services on Friday. Funeral Mass will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church, Fargo. Another Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 15, in Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot. Visitation in Minot will be held one hour prior to services on Monday. Burial will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. Arrangements by Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
