  1. MY DEAR DANA AND HANA AND FAMILY. KNOW I CARE AND SHARE YOUR GREAT SORROW AT THE LOSS OF YOUR FATHER. MY PRAYERS OF BLESSINGS FOR PEACE AND COMFORT. ARE WITH YOU ALL. MY LOVE MARYANN METZGER

  2. This breaks my heart. Such a double tragedy for such an incredible family. Our lives were so entwined with the Capeks….Dana and Joe were such a loving dynamic couple….I guess they just had to be together. That does not make it easier for Hana, Tim and Dana and grandchildren. My heart goes out to you at this very sad time. Love so much, Toni

  3. Dear Dana and Hana, I am also like my siblings and mom, so very very sad to see this. Such heartache for you all. You will be n our family rosary prayers. I hope together you will find a way forward and the pain will ebb somehow. Your mom and dad were amazing to our family. I enjoyed seeing them in Prague as well. i still remember the late night moving from Rugby to Minot; I got to go on a couple of those night drives with my dad. Your parents brought much joy to my parents, and I thoroughly enjoyed you both. Loved to hear the stories from Czech. And Dada in Minneapolis I was very appreciative to get to see you, Maure Ann and I both would say how much we smiled and laughed when with you.
love and peace to you both

  4. Dear Dana and family,

Please, accept our deepest sympathy in your time of great sorrow. We are deeply sadden by the loss of your dad who made a difference in many lives. We always enjoyed your dad’s company and respected him so much as a competent, caring physician as well as his welcoming in their home. Although we have not seen him since our last visit at Fargo , we have often though with great affection and pleasure of those wonderful days we spent together at Fargo, Minot, and Prague.

We have the whole Capek’s family in our hearts in this time of sorrow.

    Paula and Oli

  5. Dana, Hana and family,

I am so, so sorry about the loss of your dad, especially so soon after your mom. My heart goes out to you all. May you have all that you need, especially the comfort of friends, during this time of loss and healing. We knew and loved your parents. They are missed.

    Love,
    Maure Ann Metzger

  6. Dr Capek was our family physician while in Minot. He delivered our son and treated both our children at the ER many times. In fact they didn’t want to go in for treatment unless Dr Capek was on duty. He was the epitome of the family physician.

He was always so proud you, Hana & Dana. His face would glow when he spoke of you.

    He will be missed.

    You have our condolences.

  7. My deepest sympathy to the family of Joe and Dana. I was fortunate to work with Jo for several years at Dakota Clinic Northport. He was truly a Professional man and always conducted himself as such and he was a real gentlemen. May his soul rest in peace.

  8. My sympathy to you. If the weather cooperates we will travel to Fargo for the service. And if not, I will plan on a trip to Fargo to see both of you.

My prayers for all of you. God bless you always.

    Martha Elliott

  9. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this heartbreaking time of loosing both of your parents so close together. I was an X-Ray technologist at Trinity hospital in Minot when Dr Capek was the manager of our Emergency department. He was always so patient, kind and encouraging,a real joy to work with. He will be greatly missed by those of us in Minot who had the pleasure of working with him. I am so sorry for your loss.

  10. Dr. Capek was my children’s M.D. when he worked at Northport. He was well liked but mostly by my wife because he wouldn’t always go straight to a medication and sometimes suggest a warm tea for what ailed them.

My wife and sister-in-law visited him and his wife in Prague some years ago. He hosted them to a sidewalk café meal and an interesting and educational tour of the city. She fondly remember him and the travel memory. A true gentleman. God bless him and your memory.

  11. So sorry to hear of your loss. Your father was a gentleman, a kind and gentle physician. I was a nurse at Trinity in Minot during the time he worked there. I chose him to deliver both my children and care for them in their infancy. I enjoyed hearing his dramatic stories of the escape from communism and the journey West. No doubt you have terrific memories, and sooner than you think, the pain of your parents’ spas sing will be replaced by smiles of those memories.

  12. My sincere sympathy in the loss of your father. It was a pleasure to know your parents, and we were
blessed to have them as wonderful neighbors and friends.

  13. Hana, Tim, and Dana,

My heart goes out to you. Losing both parents so close together must be very difficult. Considering the number of loving years they spent together, leads to the saying of; “he died of a broken heart”.
My thoughts are with all of you during this very difficult time.

    Love, Anita

  14. While Dr Capek was in Minot he translated letters that my Aunt Mary received from her cousin Josef in Chlum, Czech. I think that it was originally South Bohemia as we all call ourselves Bohemians. I remember how eagerly she waited to see Dr. Capek to get those letters translated. What a wonderful man and a great loss to his Family, my condolences to all of you.
    Sincerely
    Beverly Doubek Peter

  15. Forgive my ignorance, I am also very sorry for the loss of your Mother. Did Dr. Capek ever return to his homeland, the Czech republic?

    Sincerely, Beverly Doubek Peter
