Duane ?Dewey? Arthur Hovland, age 79 of Fargo, died Monday, July 30, 2007 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. Duane was born on April 28, 1928 in Hillsboro, ND to Gilman and Amy Hovland. He grew up and attended school, graduating in 1946. He attended North Dakota State University where he studied Architecture. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Joyce Klumph in New Rockford, ND on October 11, 1969. They made their home in Fargo. Duane owned and operated Duane?s Shoes at Northport and Valley North malls. He also worked at Hall Allen Shoes in West Acres mall, at the Olive Garden, and most recently at Sears. Dewey was a fun loving person who loved to socialize, enjoyed dancing, golfing and jazz music. He could be found having coffee and talking with friends at the Cashwise grocery store. He leaves behind his wife, Joyce of Fargo; two daughters, Terry (Jesse) Breidenbach of Fargo, Tracy (John) Alin of Moorhead; one brother, Curtis Hovland of Minneapolis; three grandchildren, Zachary and Peyton Breidenbach and Hans Alin; and his beloved dog, Teddy Bear. Duane was preceded in death by his father, mother and two brothers, Jim and Jack Hovland. Memorials may be given to First Lutheran Church in Fargo or charity of donor?s choice. Visitation: Wednesday, August 1 from 5-7 pm at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo and also one hour prior to the service in the church on Thursday. Prayer Service: Wednesday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Service: Thursday, August 2 at 2:00 pm at First Lutheran Church, Fargo. Interment: Friday at 2:00 pm at Riverside Cemetery, Hillsboro, ND.
