Duane Johnson, 83, Fargo, ND passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 surrounded by his family at his home under the care of Ethos Hospice. He was born on May 29, 1935 in Fargo to Irvin and Mildred (Holland) Johnson of Kindred, ND. Duane farmed in Kindred before moving to Fargo. In 1961, he married Eunice Andersen at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fargo. Duane served in the US Army from January of 1957 until December of 1958 when he was honorably discharged. He owned and operated Johnson’s Refrigeration and Appliance Repair in Fargo for over 40 years. Duane enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He also liked reading, watching sports, and bowling. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eunice; sons, Gary (Michelle); Daryl (Danelle); Doug (Kim); and David (Nicole) Johnson; grandchildren, Garrett, Kylie, Kendra, Danika, Nathan, Erica, Krystal, Jared, and John; siblings, Ilene (Vern) Bolstad, Roger (Barb) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Lucille and Gloria Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Clayton and Gene.

  1. I knew Duane for a long time. He was such a kind man and always had a smile. He was always willing to help someone out with his business. He will be missed greatly. Sorry for your loss.

  3. My deepest sympathy. If I had a problem with a washer, dryer, garbage disposal, etc. I’d call Duane. He was always honest and reliable and a great person to talk to. He will be missed.

  6. I am so sorry for your loss Eunice. I volunteered for years selling meat raffle tickets at the VFW in West Fargo. Duane would be playing a little blackjack and you would buy raffle tickets. I so enjoyed seeing you every time I was there. He was such a nice guy with such a nice wife. I hope all of your wonderful memories are tucked away so he will be with you forever.   8. Sorry for the late reply but I just found out about Duane. My deepest thoughts and sympathy to Doug and all the family. Duane was a special person that helped me out with various service worm over many years.
