E. Gene Sailors

Gene Sailors, 86, Fargo, ND died Saturday October 15, 2016 at Villa Maria, Fargo. Gene was born on January 7, 1930 in Falls City, Nebraska, to Estel and Pearl Sailors. He attended Peru State College and the University of Nebraska. He served his country with the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean conflict, stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. On December 28, 1952 Gene wed Charlotte Elaine Pryor in Peru, Nebraska. Due to his work, the couple made their home in many different cities. He was employed by Cominco American, Inc. in various cities for 25 years, retiring in Spokane, WA in 1990. The couple has resided in Fargo for the past 15 years. Gene was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fargo. He loved all his family and friends and in his earlier years enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was an avid reader, Nebraska football fan and loved classical and jazz music. Gene is survived by his wife Charlotte, children, Suzie Sailors; Scott (Tina) Sailors and Celia (Bruce) Reisenauer;  grandson, Colton Reisenauer, granddaughter, Shawna Sailors and great-grandson, Kenneth Wade; brother, Dennis (Elsie) Sailors, Lincoln NE; sister, Peggy (Marshall) Whittemore, Lincoln, NE; sister-in-law, Marilyn Sailors, LaVista, NE; and many nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry; sister, Marna and her husband, Ed Bahr. Our family would like to thank Pastors Paul Lang and Mary Jo Holtey, Hospice of the Red River Valley, Villa Maria Nursing Home and staff, and Sanford In Home Health Care staff. The memorial service will be 2:00 pm Thursday October 20, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, Fargo with visitation one hour before the service.
