Edgar A. Luchsinger, 84, Fargo, ND died Saturday, September 19, 2009 in ManorCare Heath Services, Fargo, ND. Edgar was born on May 29, 1925 in Taylor, ND to George and Irene Luchsinger. He grew up in Surrey, ND and graduated from high school in 1944. He then enlisted in the Army and served in Germany during World War II for two years. When he returned he worked in California for a year before starting to work for the Great Northern Railroad. On June 18, 1950 Edgar married Ann Stredwick and they lived in Surrey, ND. Their daughter Sue was born in 1957 and their son Bruce was born in 1959. In 1973 when Great Northern merged with Burlington Northern, Edgar and his family moved to Fargo. Edgar retired from Burlington Northern in 1981. Edgar and Ann spent eight winters in Port Isabel, TX. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the VFW. Edgar volunteered for the VA and the food pantry after his retirement. Due to declining health he had to stop volunteering. Edgar enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and playing cards with family and friends. He is survived by Ann, his wife of 59 years; daughter, Sue and Larry Scilley, and their children Beau, Matthew, and Megan; son, Bruce and Robin Luchsinger, and their children Chase and Cole; and his sisters, Ruth Zook and Dorothy Reichenburger. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Irene Luchsinger, and brothers, Frank and Leonard. Visitation one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorial Service: Wednesday 3:30 p.m. First Presbyterian Church, Fargo. Burial: Surrey, ND
