Edna Dahlstrom

Edna Dahlstrom Hillsboro, North Dakota Edna passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing at the age of 89. Edna Hoffmann was born on January 18, 1920, the daughter of John and Matilda Hoffmann, near Bowdle, SD. She grew up in this area and moved with her family when she was 10 to Ventura, ND. Following her schooling in Ventura, ND, Edna met her future husband, Oscar Dahlstrom of Grandin, ND. Oscar and Edna were united in marriage on November 23, 1940 and made their home on a farm near Grandin. They farmed for many years prior to moving to Hillsboro in the late 1970’s. Oscar passed away in 1992. Edna became close to many area families through her work for them helping with their children, cooking and cleaning. Edna was always busy, tending her house and garden, and helping all of her neighbors and friends. She also worked for the Sugar Beet Plant in Hillsboro for a number of years. Edna is survived by her sons, Dr. Donald (Gail) Dahlstrom of Minneapolis, MN; Roger Dahlstrom of Phoenix, AZ; and Thomas (Judy) Dahlstrom of Two Harbors, MN; her 9 grandchildren – Patrick, Cory, Jaci, Eric, Jennifer, Elissa, Diedra, Amy, and Enid; several great grandchildren; and many very special nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her siblings - Gertrude (Ted) Gesinger, Clara Kost, and Rueben (Jan) Hoffmann. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar; her son, Steven; her sisters, Emma and Violet; and her brother, Gordon.
