Obituary

Edward “Eddie” Schock, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on October 8, 2020, in Fargo, ND, at the age of 82.

Edward Frederick Schock was born in Fort Yates, ND to Edward and Lorina Schock on February 18, 1938. He and his family moved to McLaughlin, SD in his early years where he attended school. After graduating high school in 1956, Eddie went to the Black Hills School of Business where he received his accounting certification. Shortly after, he enlisted in the Army.

Edward and Sharon were married on November 25, 1962 at First Redeemer Lutheran Church. Throughout the years, he worked as an accountant, a rural mail carrier, and a bus driver. Eddie and Sharon raised three children in McLaughlin.

Eddie’s many hobbies included nature: hunting, fishing, and hiking. He enjoyed being out in the open fields with family and friends. He also enjoyed having company and entertaining with dinner, drinks, and cards. Eddie was well known for never sitting still and always being on the go, whether that be downtown to coffee or across the state for lunch.

Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lorina Schock. He is survived by his sister Audrey Brockel, brother Darwin Schock, wife, Sharon, and their three children: Tawnya Henderson, Tyler Schock, and Travis Schock, four grandchildren: Trene Drayer, Colton Schock, Cadyn Schock, and Cruz Schock, and his five great grandchildren: Cash Drayer, Cainen Drayer, Cormac Drayer, Cavan Drayer, and Kinsley Schock.

Services will be held at a later date. Please contact the family for an updated address to send cards.

Sending my sympathy and condolences to Sharon and the family. Sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved husband and father and grandfather. Yes I remember the high school days and when Sharon and Eddie got married and when it was Boy Scout leaders I do believe two of the boys were in Boy Scouts at the time . As I remember Eddie a very multitask person dedicated to helping others. Also remember back in the day when his wife Sharon was a waitress at the Jo Dee cafe When husband Smitty owned it.

Just heard the news about “cousin” Eddie. I know my mother Elfreda always had a soft spot for him and would talk of him fondly. I also remember, even as a child, there was much laughter whenever we visited McLaughlin, and the few occasions Eddie came to the cities to visit. Condolences and blessings to the extended family and my other “cousins” Audrey and Darwin. May God keep you in the palm of his hand.
