https://vimeo.com/event/1175164 Edwin A. Ehlers, 71, Hillsboro, ND retired US Navy passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021 at has his home. Edwin was born January 31, 1950, in Alton, IL to Charles and Mary (Richardson) Ehlers. He grew up as the second child of 10 on the family farm in Godfrey, IL. He graduated from Alton High School in 1969 before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served his country as an Aviation Boatswain's Mates, Aircraft Handling where he directed the movement and spotting of aircraft aboard aircraft carriers including the USS Roosevelt before retiring after 20+ years. He then went to drive long haul semi-trucks for 5 years until he decided to settle down and care for his dear grandchildren. He helped his daughter and son-in-law found Higher Power Automotive and Diagnostics in 2017, his “Papa Power” made it possible. His family was his everything and spending time with his grandchildren made him the happiest. His passions included gardening, cooking, and shopping for broken things to take on the challenge of fixing them. He was a kind man and gentle soul, although a little rough on the outside. Edwin was someone you could always depend on no matter what. He will besides dearly by all those who knew him. He is survived by his children; Anne (Robert) Whitehead-Bailey, Hillsboro, ND, Edwin (Angela) Ehlers, Cannon Falls, MN, 9 grandchildren; Christian James (Yan Zhou Chen) Patten, Alexis Marie Whitehead, Atreyu Plendl, Baylee Robin Whitehead, Kayla Marie Lewis, Connor West Lewis, Thomas Charles Ehlers, Danni Marie Ehlers, Deanna Elizabeth Bailey, siblings; Charles (Charlotte) Ehlers, Mary (Harold) Scates, Opal (David) Swarringin, Brenda Spraggs, Robert (Sena) Ehlers, Susan Wood, Sadie (Greg) Helgen, Gina (Brian) Williams, Catherine (Warren) Crabtree and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary, brothers, David Ehlers, Jesse Ehlers, sister-in-law, Irene Ehlers, and brother-in-law Mark Spraggs. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Veterans Warrior Ride, 415 E. Main Ave #1., West Fargo ND 58078 and/or you can go to their website. Funeral Service: 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Wildeman-Boulger Funeral Home, Hillsboro, ND with visitation starting at 12:00 P.M. The service will be live streamed on the funeral homes website.
