Elaine Buen

Elaine Buen, 93, a resident of Edgewood Vista, Fargo, ND died peacefully June 10, 2019 at Elim Rehab and Care Center under the care of Ethos Hospice. Memorial service for Elaine will be July 8, 2019 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with visitation one hour before. Elaine Delores Haga was born January 20, 1926 to Arthur and Stacey Haga and grew up an only child in Northwood, ND. After graduating from Northwood High School, she attended New York Hairstyling Academy in Fargo. On September 1, 1946 Elaine married Ellsworth Buen of Hatton, ND. They made their home in Hatton where they were blessed with four children. In 1962 they moved to Fargo where Elaine enjoyed returning to New York Hairstyling Academy as an instructor for more than 10 years. Several moves later to Sioux Falls, Peoria, Denver and Grand Forks they settled back in Fargo. Lovingly referred to as Lefse Grandma, Elaine kept the Norwegian traditions alive for her family. She was an excellent baker and seamstress and shared those talents with the quilting group at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Elaine was a little lady who made a big impact on the people in her life. Elaine is survived by her son, David (Margo) Buen of Fargo, ND; and daughters, Cathy (John) Marks of Port Charlotte, FL; and Randy (Frank) Sonneman of Hernando, FL; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and son, Craig Buen. Elaine’s family would like to thank Edgewood Vista, Elim Rehab and Care Center and Ethos Hospice for the wonderful care she received.
