Elaine Elizabeth Vogel, “Grandma Mikie”, age 80, died Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. Born into a family of three older brothers and one younger, Elaine grew up in Fargo where she lived out her life.  She attended Catholic School in Fargo.  Around age 16, she met the love of her life, Herman Vogel, She happily married him at age 18, (December 12, 1953).  Elaine lived out 48 anniversaries full of love and care with Herman until he passed away in 2002. Throughout Elaine’s life, she had a deep love and devotion for children. Having two daughters of her own, she went on to become a grandmother to six and a great-grandmother to one.  She also had a deep love for her nieces and nephews, which helped influence her to open her heart and home to children by starting a daycare that she maintained for over 30 years. The love and care she provided to these children was as if they were her own. One thing is for certain, family was always first with Christ by her side. Elaine Taught many things to people, not always directly but strongly through her actions and words.  She showed how valuable love for one another can be as well as how to give that care and affection.  She went on to adopt the name “Grandma Mikie” and became highly admired by all of her grandchildren. The life that Elaine lived is not one often matched by many people.  She lived a love filled happy life.  It for sure will leave a dent in our hearts and a tear in our eye as we pray for a safe journey for Elaine’s soul into Heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herman; daughter and son-in-law Sandra Marie (David Sr.) Hess, and her brothers: Bob, Donald, Earl Jr., and Duane Draper. She is survived by her daughter, Terrie Lynn (Andrew) Dignan; grandchildren: David Hess Jr. and his son Ayden, Jon Hess, Timothy Dignan, Samantha Dignan, Joseph Dignan, and Roselynn Dignan as well as many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 4th, 2015 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fargo. A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 3 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo.
