Eleanor McInnes

Eleanor McInnes passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo at the age of 91.

Eleanor Marie Borke was born on August 12, 1921, in Bloomfield Township, near Hillsboro, the daughter of Norin and Laura (Norby) Borke. She grew up in this area and graduated from Hillsboro High School. Eleanor was united in marriage to Earl McInnes on December 6, 1941 in Moorhead, MN. Together they made their home on the family farm near Hillsboro where they farmed for many years. Earl passed away on February 4, 1964. Eleanor remained on the family farm where she raised her family. She moved into Hillsboro in 2001 where she has lived since.

Eleanor was a lifelong member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro where she was active in the Ladies Aid and Circle, and also served as a Sunday School Teacher. She worked at the Johnson Store, and for Traill County Soil Conservation. She enjoyed working with the Traill County Museum, and was a member of the Daughters of the Pioneers.  Throughout her life she was strong supporter of the Republican Party and served as an election judge in Traill County.

Eleanor is survived by her children, Kathleen Trevino of Maple Grove, MN; Tom McInnes of Hillsboro; Rick McInnes of Hillsboro; Ann (Gregg) Allen of Oceanside, CA; Margaret Krogstad of Grand Forks, ND; and Laurie (Don) White of Fargo; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, Carroll (Naomi) Borke of Hillsboro; and Merlin “Bud” (Lois) Borke of Bismarck, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl; her brothers, Lowell and Millard; her son, Paul; her daughter, Elaine Erickson; and her grandson, Scott Erickson.
