Eleanor Yackel, 95 of Fargo, formerly of Havana, ND and Rockford, MN, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo.

Eleanor Parrow was born on December 3, 1914 near Veblen, SD.  She attended a rural school and the Veblen High School for two years.  She moved with her family to Havana, ND in 1929 and graduated from the Havana High School in 1931.

She attended Valley City State College and Normal and Industrial College in Ellendale, ND where she received her teaching degree.  She began a teaching career of 36 years in rural schools in North and South Dakota, then Geneseo and Forman, North Dakota and later in Melrose, MN and Rockford, MN.  She retired in 1976.

She married Clarence J. Yackel in 1949.  They lived in Regal, MN, Lake City, SD and Rockford, MN where he was an Agent and Telegraph Operator for the Soo Line Railroad.  Clarence died in 1991 and Eleanor moved to Fargo in 1992.

Eleanor was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

She is survived by her son, Charles J. (Marilyn) Yackel; granddaughter, Karen Yackel of Glenwood, MN; grandson, Corey J. (Debra) Yackel of Starbuck, MN; three great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Carter of Fargo; sister-in-law, Bernetta Parrow of Haysville, KS; five nephews and three nieces.

    We always looked forward to seeing Eleanor and Ginny when we would get to Fargo. Elanor had a spirit and outlook that was special. We will miss her. Our conern and sypathy go to Ginny and the rest of the family.
