Ella C. Palluck, 95, Fargo, ND (formerly Davenport, ND) passed away November 26 at Villa Maria. Ella Zierke was born March 22, 1924 at home by Embden, ND to Robert and Katherine (Jager) Zierke. She attended a country school, completing the 8th grade in 7 years. Ella married Leo Palluck on October 19, 1943 in St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Alice, ND. They farmed in the Embden and Alice area until 1958 when they move to Davenport, ND. Leo worked for the Cass County Highway Dept. and she was a housewife raising seven children. Leo passed away in 2005 and Ella continued living in their home in Davenport until moving into Villa Maria in 2018. Ella was a founding member of St. Maurice’s Catholic Church in Kindred, ND. She also was a charter member of the Davenport Senior Citizens. She loved caring for others, gardening, cooking and baking, assorted crafts, fishing and trips to the casino. She is survived by her children, Beverly (Richard) Dawson, Joyce (Rex) Baker, Larry (Diane), Glenn (Carolyn), Curtis (Stephanie), Duane (Vicky) and Donna Wawers; grandchildren, Lori Dawson Faulkner, Jerry and James Dawson, Paul Atherton, Matthew Palluck, Jennie Palluck Jocson, Kristen Palluck Balatocan and Anthony Palluck; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great-great granddaughters; 4 step grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; 1 step great-great grandson; and 3 sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by husband Leo of 62 years, parents, son-in-law Dean Wawers, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation will be from 6-7 pm, with a prayer service at 7 pm, Thursday, Dec. 5, at Fredrikson-Boulger Funeral Chapel in Kindred, ND. Visitation will continue from 10-11 am, followed by a funeral mass at 11 am, Friday, Dec. 6, at St. Maurice’s Catholic Church in Kindred. Burial will be in Davenport Cemetery. A special thank you to the Villa Maria Nursing Home staff and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their kind and caring assistance to Ella.

  2. My condolences to Ella’s family. I have great memories of my wife, Kathy, and I with Ella as we all shared with many others in the responsibility of forming the St. Maurice parish and congregation.
