Emma M. Kraig, 95, formerly of Leonard, ND, died Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at Bethany Homes, Fargo
Emma Maier was born October 20, 1910 at Youngtown, ND to William and Anna (Jacobson) Maier where she grew up and attended school. She attended high school at New Salem, ND. After graduation she attended Dickinson Teachers College. She continued her education and graduated from Ellendale Teachers College. She taught in rural schools in Oliver County and Morton County for seven terms. She worked at Glacier National Park one summer. She married Herman T. Kraig on October 1, 1938 at Britton, SD. They had one son, Dale. They farmed at Rutland, ND and later moved to a farm near Sheldon, ND. In 1974 they retired and moved to Leonard, ND. She was active in the Leonard Friendship Club for many years. She was a member of Helendale Lutheran Church and was active in the W.E.L.C.A. Circles.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband on March 29, 1995; her parents; and 2 brothers.
Emma is survived by her son Dale, Fargo, ND; two brothers, Clarence Maier, Billings, MT, Charles (Gloria) Maier, New Salem, ND; three grandsons; three great grandsons; 3 step great granddaughters; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral for Emma will be Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Helendale Lutheran Church, rural Leonard, ND. There will be a prayer service at Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred, ND on Friday, October 6, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Visitation is at Fredrikson Funeral Chapel on Friday from 5-7:00 p.m. and Saturday in the church 1 hour before the funeral service. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Lisbon, ND.
