Emma Mae Swenson, 87 of Fargo, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the Palliative Care unit of MeritCare Hospital in Fargo.
Emma was born on April 14, 1921 in Anaheim, California to Daniel and Clara (Flack) Seidlitz. She attended grade school in California and moved with her parents to Hope, ND where she graduated from high school. She received her teaching certificate from Valley City State College and taught school in Hugo Township, Lignite, ND and in Hope, ND. She married T. Gus Swenson in 1948. They lived in Great Falls, MT for a few years before moving to Hope, ND. They owned and operated Finley Motors in Finley, ND. Emma retired in 1988. She enjoyed plants and gardening, decorating wedding cakes, baking bread for friends and family and loved playing the piano and organ. Emma also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy in life was her relationship with God.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and infant brother.
Emma is survived by her brothers, James (Georgia) Seidlitz of Corvallis, OR, Carl (Joan) Seidlitz of
Napavine, WA; sisters, Nancy (Gilbert) Knox of Eugene, OR, Lucy Hashbarger of Fargo and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Saturday, January 3 from 9-11 am at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
Funeral Service: Saturday at 11:00 am at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
Interment: Page Cemetery, Page, ND.
