Erwin Neuman

Erwin M. Neuman, 94 of Fargo, died Wednesday, December 21, 2005 in Elim Care Center, Fargo. Erwin was born on August 17, 1911 in Gackle, ND to Christian and Sophia (Petre) Neuman. He graduated from New Leipzig High School and attended Ellendale Normal and Dakota and Interstate Business Colleges. Following college, Erwin was a teacher at a country school in Grant County, ND and he also worked for State Bank in New Leipzig and Federal Land Bank in Mott, ND. Erwin married Marion Lewis on December 31, 1935. He served in the US Army from 1944-1946 and was wounded in Italy. The family moved to Fargo in 1946. Erwin then worked as an appraiser for the Veterans Administration and the FHA. He excelled in sports and was recruited by a minor league baseball team while he was in high school. He loved golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, basketball, football, baseball and reading. Erwin was a member of the American Legion, DAV, VFW, Eagles, Edgewood Mens= Club, and the Elks. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marion; grandson, Steve Erickson; brothers, Roy and Reuben and his sister, Luella. He is survived by his children, Joyce (Ed) Westfall of Moorhead, MN, Rosemary (Andrew) Schatz of Woodbridge, VA, James Neuman of Denver, CO, Monica (Larry) Murack of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, John (Yumiko) Erickson of Thousand Oaks, CA, Maria Sall of Rogers, MN, Karen (Michael) Landsverk of Becker, MN, Michael (Jennifer) Haddox-Schatz of Newport News, VA, Peter Schatz of Fort Benning, GA, Christine (Charles) Jemenez of Loveland, CO, Kristine (Brian) Vickery of Atlanta, GA, Jennifer Murack of Atlanta, GA; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Ernest (Mary) Neuman of Gig Harbor, WA; sisters, Agnes Schultz of Sacramento, CA and Laura (Edwin) Schu of Elk Grove, CA. Funeral Service: Saturday, December 24, 2005 at 2:00 pm in Elim Care Center Chapel, Fargo. Visitation: One hour prior to the service on Saturday and also Friday from 6-8 pm in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Interment: Holy Cross North Cemetery, Fargo.
