Ethelyn Ann Zitzow passed away on June 11, 2020 at Hospice House Sanford in Fargo, ND. Ethelyn Ann (Pederson) Zitzow, 86 years old, was born on November 27, 1933 to Hilmer and Verna (Evenson) Pederson on the farm in Portland, ND. They moved to Ogema, MN and lived on the family farm. She grew up there and graduated from Waubun High School, MN. She worked at the local telephone company in Detroit lakes, MN until she met her future husband, Walter Zitzow, at a local dance. They were united in marriage on October 23, 1955. They moved to Fargo, ND and made there home there where they raised their 3 children. She worked at the Telephone company for a few years and then selling Avon as her children were growing up. Ethelyn also worked at US Bank in downtown Fargo for about 10 years where she was Safety deposit box receptionist. She enjoyed her work and interacting with the people. She lived at their home for her entire life. Her husband passed away on January 14, 2018. She continued to reside at their home till the time of her passing. Her biggest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren. Her interests were sewing, knitting, quilting, gardening, watching her grandchildren perform, being at the lake, and church activities. We all so enjoyed her fresh garden produce and her delicious rhubarb crisp! Ethelyn was a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. She was involved with the Ladies Circle at the church, the LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League) and the quilters group. She Will be dearly missed! Ethelyn is survived by her 3 children, Cheryl (Frank) Schindler of Barnesville, MN; Chad (Diane) Zitzow of Moorhead, MN; Todd Zitzow of Fargo, ND; 4 grandchildren, Cristy (Justin) Brosowske of Moorhead, MN; Cari (Matthew) Burnett of Alberta, MN; Cody (Caitlin) Zitzow of Frazee, MN; Mary (Christian) Boechler of Fargo, ND; 9 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Madison Selzler, Armour, Lindy Brosowske, Jacoby, Jamis, Lana and Bentlee Burnett and Judah Boechler; 1 sister, Linda (Juan) Hernandez; 2 brothers-in-law, Wilmar (Marie)Zitzow, Elmer (Pat) Zitzow; sister-in-law, Elvie Zitzow; aunt, Isabelle Pederson; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; great grandchild, Jude Brosowske; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Private family services will be held at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo.

  1. Aunt Ethelyn will be missed, I cherish the memories I have of the past with her, Uncle Walter, and the family at the lake, Grandma Zitzow’s farm, and the many Zitzow family reunions. My prayers for the family for their loss, and I hope sometime soon to be able to spend time with them to celebrate Aunt Ethelyn’s life.
