Remembering the life of Gene Hoepfner Gene Hoepfner passed away on Wednesday, September 26th, 2018. Gene was born on September 3, 1943 at Hazen, ND to Valentine and Ella (Weidrick) Hoepfner. He lived and helped on his family farm, with his two brothers and two sisters, and graduated high school in Hazen, ND. He then spent roughly a year working on oil wells within Montana. He moved to Fargo in 1962, then received an associate degree at Interstate business college. Gene remained in Fargo and married Jolene (Gapp) Hoepfner of Langdon, ND in 1965. They had four children: Holly Jean, Tharon Eugene, Teneil Jeannie, and Preston Gene. In 1973, he established Hoepfner Construction and ran his business as owner operator until he retired in 2008. Gene kept busy during his retirement with a job at Luther Family Ford working around cars, which he enjoyed. Some of his hobbies were gardening, with a special interest in growing many different tomato varieties, attending car shows with his 40th anniversary Corvette, collecting carpentry tools. Gene also had an interest in food from his German heritage. Gene is survived by his wife Jolene and three children: Tharon Eugene Hoepfner of Saint Louis, MO, Teneil Jeannie Hoepfner of Fargo, ND, Preston Gene Hoepfner of Fargo, ND, and two granddaughters, Eden and Raven Broberg. His is also survived by his siblings Tom Hoepfner of Fargo, ND, Mary Ann Galster of Las Vegas, NV, and Jim Hoepfner of Bismarck, ND, and many nieces and nephews. Gene is preceded in death by a daughter, Holly Jean, his parents, Valentine and Ella Hoepfner, and sister JoAnn Schwengler.

  7. Sorry for you loss Jolene. Gene and I go back to the 70’s We worked together at Simonson Lumber and he did work for me for many years Gene was a great person. I hope he did not suffer.
