Eva Agnes Banasik, 95, Fargo, ND passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Essentia Health in Fargo. She was born on November 29, 1919 to Eugene and Mary (Polum) Meehan in Fargo. She grew up on a farm in Fargo and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1937.   Eva then attended Fargo Secretarial School from 1938-1939. Following graduation, she began working for Pierce Co. where she was employed until 1948. In November of 1947 Eva was united in marriage to Orville Banasik at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo. The couple made their home in Fargo where they raised their four children. Eva was a charter member of Holy Spirit Church where she was an active member for over 60 years. She was also involved in Girl Scouts and the Forrester’s. Bowling and ceramics were some of her favorite hobbies. She was an avid gardener and donated many perennials to the library at the school. Eva was very well traveled, visiting almost every state and going all over the world with her husband. The couple also spent many summers at their lake cottage on Lake Sybil, as well as camping and exploring the southern states in their RV. Eva was very passionate about politics and always kept up on current affairs. She is survived by her three sons, Orville Jr. (Sharon) Banasik of Marion, Iowa; Michael (Brenda) Banasik of Wentzville, Missouri; and Thomas (Beverly) Banasik of Fargo, North Dakota; daughter, Jane (James) Rudlang of West Fargo, North Dakota; 11 grandchildren, Lyndsey (Jason) Howard, Daniel (Rachel) Alm, Jeremiah (Wendy) Alm, Zachary Rudlang, Amanda Rudlang, Schane (Alisa) Rudlang, Michael Banasik, Risa Banasik, Megan Banasik, Kevin Banasik, and Casey Banasik; 7 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Lila Meehan. She was preceded in death by her husband; and siblings, Francis Meehan, James Meehan, Eugene Meehan, Sister Marie Phillip Meehan, Mary Meehan, Rita Meehan, Rose Meehan, and Margaret Meehan.

  1. My prayers and sympathy are with the Banasik-Meehan families. I did not know Eva well but met her several times through her sister, Sister Marie Philip. May she rest in peace as she rejoices in eternal glory.
