Obituary

Frances M. Fischer 92, died Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Rosewood on Broadway, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Frances was born to Dominic and Anna (Schuler) Hoffarth on March 22, 1927 in Mt. Carmel, ND. She grew up in Mt. Carmel and attended High School in Langdon, ND. She then attended Valley City State Teacher’s College in Valley City, ND. Frances taught school for six years in the Langdon area.

Frances Hoffarth and Cyril Fischer were married in Mt. Carmel on October 24, 1951. They farmed in the Langdon area for many years including the farm where Cyril was born and raised. Frances worked at the Langdon Bakery, Bowling Alley, Piggly Wiggly, and Maple Manor Nursing Home until retiring.

Frances and Cyril moved to Fargo in 1994, where they enjoyed their retirement by traveling and spending time together. Frances enjoyed working on the farm, walking, gardening, going to the library and valued time with family and friends.

Frances is survived by her sons, Lynn (Sharon), Sun City, AZ, Eric (Stacy Wright), Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Melissa Fischer, Janelle (Mike) Van Meegeren, Bryan (Sarah) Fischer, Bryce Fischer; great Granddaughter, Teah Grace Fischer; sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Moorhead, MN, Mary Alice Girodat, Langdon, ND; sister-in-law Grace Hoffarth and many nieces and nephews.

Frances is preceded in death by her husband, three brothers; four sisters, and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley or donor’s choice.

A Funeral Mass will be held on August 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning one hour prior at Nativity Catholic Church, Fargo, ND.
