Frederick Hilsendager

Frederick Donald Hilsendager, 50, of Woodridge, IL, passed away suddenly on September 25, 2016. Fred was the beloved husband of Chona (Woodridge, Ill); the cherished son of Donald (Sarah) Hilsendager (West Fargo, formerly Philadelphia, Pa) and Ardella (Stan) Moeckel (Wishek, ND).  He was the caring brother of Theresa Strong (Fargo) and Colleen (Keith) Bengtson (Pelican Rapids, Minn).  Fred will be missed by his nieces Tracy Fercho Frank (Tristin) (Fargo) and Maureen Schauer Cochran (Kevin) (Fargo), and his nephew Steven (Gina) of Bismarck.  He had 2 great-nieces and 4 great-nephews. His treasured 16 year old daughter Olivia was the light of his life. A graduate of Wishek High School, Fred was respected for his basketball and track accomplishments; indeed, some of his records are unbeaten to this day. He was a proud graduate of Fox School of Business, Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.  His interest in sports continued throughout his life. Fred’s dedication to the Minnesota Vikings was legendary, remaining loyal throughout both winning and losing seasons; his favorite attire was “anything Viking”.  Fred enjoyed landscape architecture and gardening, loved to ski in Vermont and Utah, and was working to improve his golf game. He had a witty and wry sense of humor and was a computer whiz.  Fred was blessed by many friendships throughout the country. He was an excellent host at any gathering and was an outstanding conversationalist, covering a wide range of topics; he loved the opportunity to engage in intellectual debate and friends and family learned from his insights. Fred was committed to clean energy and solar power, doing his part to encourage others to honor the land and its natural resources. Frederick Donald Hilsendager was a good man.  He is missed beyond measure. There will be a funeral service at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
