Gail Hoffman

gail hoffman
Gail Annette (Anderson) Hoffman was born on March 18, 1958 in Morris, Minnesota and died on December 17, 2019 at the age of 61 in Fargo, North Dakota . Gail grew up in Donnelly with her father Clayton, mother Ardelle, brother Cal, and sisters Kay and Jan. She graduated from high school in 1976 and then attended the University of Minnesota, Morris where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education. In 1981 she taught elementary school in Hancock, Minnesota and married Tom Hoffman. Together, they moved to Williston, North Dakota and then Fort Collins, Colorado, where she worked in the oil industry. In Fort Collins, Gail and Tom had two children; Brian was born in 1984 and Rachel was born in 1986. A year later, Gail and her family settled in Fargo, North Dakota. Gail fell in love with motherhood and spending her time on playgrounds. She volunteered in the community and for her children’s many activities, always finding a way to spend time coaching or teaching. Artistically-inclined, she enjoyed quilting, gardening, and watercolor painting. In her early 30’s, Gail was diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis, a destructive disease that she fought courageously. Throughout it all, Gail maintained her unique sense of humor, and will most certainly be remembered for her wit. The family would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to all the caretakers at Bethany on 42nd who took great care of Gail during the past nine years, as well as the caretakers from Ethos Hospice who made her final months more comfortable. Gail is survived by her son Brian (Gwen) Hoffman, their children Lacey and Clayton, daughter Rachel (Ben Hamilton) Hoffman, ex-husband Tom Hoffman, mother Ardelle Anderson Rohloff, brother Cal (Cheryl) Anderson, sisters Kay (Gene) Hacker, Jan (Tim) Wagener, nieces Gretchen (Martin) Shervy, Karla (Corey) Sundheim, Andrea Lafollete, and nephews Brendan (Vanessa) Hacker, Nathan (Rachel) Hacker, Jack Wagener and Aaron Wagener. Gail is preceded in death by her father Clayton Anderson. Visitation will be Monday, December 23, 2019 at 1 PM followed by a service at 2 PM at the Larsen Chapel at Bethany on 42nd. The burial will be held at 10 AM on December 24, 2019 in Morris, MN at Summit Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the MS Society.

Guestbook

  1. Tom, Ardelle, Cal, Kay, Jan, Brian, Rachel and family,
My heart goes out to all of you on the loss of Gail. As a cousin growing up with her, whether playing at the farmhouse in Donnelly or at the farm in Hoffman, she always was smiling and full of fun! It is so sad to see what MS did to her, but I know throughout this awful disease, she kept fighting and did the best she could day by day.
I will remember Gail’s smile and laugh, her easy-going manner. She is now moving, talking, laughing in heaven all while enjoying a healthy body. God bless you all, Love Carolyn Anderson Seifermann.
