Gay Lynn Kay Haney, 64, West Fargo passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 5 at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo, ND from complications stemming from a long battle with Pick’s Disease. Her loving family was at her side. Gay Lynn Kay Haney was born on June 16, 1945 in Aberdeen, SD. She is the daughter of Vi and Reuben “Red” Schuler. Gay Lynn was raised and completed her elementary education in Miller and Rapid City, SD. She graduated from Mandan High School in 1963. Gay Lynn married David Haney on December 28, 1963 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Mandan, ND. They lived in Rapid City, SD; Bismarck & Grand Forks, ND; and Missoula, MT before moving to Dickinson, ND, in 1978. She received an associate degree in nursing from Dickinson State University. In 1985, Gay Lynn and her family moved to Jamestown, ND, where she worked as a R.N. at High Acres Manor. She retired in 2000 after many years of service in hospitals and nursing homes. Gay Lynn was an avid reader who also loved to spend summers outside working in her flower gardens. She enjoyed shopping in antique stores and restoring old picture frames. Her family has many fond memories of trips to Montana to visit relatives and other vacations around the country. Gay Lynn especially enjoyed several trips to Disney World before she fell ill and was unable to travel. Gay Lynn is survived by her husband, Deacon David Haney, Fargo; their daughter, Stacy (John Heidenreich), Fargo; her three grandchildren, Tyler, Hannah and Seth; her mother, Vi Schuler, Fargo; her sisters, Bonnie Bell and Linda Mees, Fargo; and her brother, Dan Schuler, Missoula, MT. Gay Lynn was preceded in death by her father, Reuben “Red” Schuler and her brothers, Jim and John. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, December 9 from 5-7 PM with a Vigil Service at 7 PM in Boulger Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 AM on Thursday, December 10 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, West Fargo. Burial: Mandan Union Cemetery at a later date.
