Genevieve V. Erickson, age 90, 54 28th Avenue NE, Fargo, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, in Bethany Homes, Fargo. Genevieve Virginia Benson was born January 7, 1915, at Page, ND, the daughter of John and Jennie (Sadow) Benson. She graduated from Page High School and then attended Valley City Normal School. She became an elementary teacher, and taught at country schools near Buffalo and Ayr, both North Dakota. She later taught school at Hunter and Medina, both North Dakota. She was united in marriage to Bennett Erickson on June 29, 1942, in Page. They lived on a farm at Colgate, ND, and later at Clifford, ND, which they purchased in 1947. They moved to Fargo in 1956, but continued farming until their retirement in 1975. Genevieve also taught piano and organ at the Knox Conservatory of Music in the 1970s, and then later in her home. She had also played piano at the Page Theatre during the silent movie era. Mr. Erickson passed away in 1987. She has resided at Bethany Homes since February of this year. Genevieve enjoyed cross-stitching, cross word puzzles, reading, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and being with her family. She is survived by her children, James (Nancy) of Clifford, ND, Dave (Shari) of Fargo, ND, and Donald of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one sister, Alice LaBrie of Minneapolis, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bennett; and daughter, Janice Koski in 1996. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Peace Lutheran Church, Fargo. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Visitation will also be held on Thursday in the church one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Page Cemetery, Page, ND. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
